RECERTIFICATION IPC/WHMA-A-620 CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST (CIS)

Course Description

Anyone who wants to renew their IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist(CIS) Certification must take this two (2) days IPC/WHMA-A-620 Specialist Certification. To maintain your 24-month certification, you must re-certify before your certification expires. To enhance an individual’s skill and ability to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable printed boards, IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist(CIS) Certification training aims all three classes for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies.

A certificate must be renewed every 24 months. IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist(CIS) Certification can complete a recertification Training Course within six months before the expiration of the certificate.

Certification

After completing the Course, students will take open book written examinations and be required to perform acceptable rework and repairs based on IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist(CIS) Certification. A student who have successfully completed this Course is rewarded with an IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Certification that stays Valid for Two(2) Years. Students who have earned their Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification within the last two years may take part in a relevant recertification course/ training.

Anyone who wishes to renew their IPC certificate and is currently designated as a Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) with a valid certificate.

Module 1 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C General content, applicable documents, wire preparation, measuring, and testing

This mandatory module contains content that applies to all other sections of the document, a listing of applicable documents, and the handling of electronic assemblies.

  • Foreword and Applicable Documents (section 2)
  • Cable/wire preparation (section 3)
  • Measuring Cable Assemblies (section 11)
  • Testing Cable Assemblies (section 19)

Module 2 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Crimping and Insulation Displacement

This additional knowledge module provides process standards for wire and cable connections that are formed by crimping and those formed by Insulation Displacement Connectors.

Module 3 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Soldered Terminals and High Voltage

The process requirements and acceptability requirements for wire and cable connections made by soldering and those connections used in a high voltage assembly are presented in this additional knowledge module.

Module 4 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Connectorization, Molding and Potting

Process requirements and acceptability requirements for wire and cable connections installed into various connectors and moldings and potting are presented in this additional knowledge module.

Module 5 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Splices

The wire and cable process requirements and acceptability requirements in this additional knowledge module are related to splices.

Module 6 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Marking, Securing, Shielding, and finished assemblies

This additional knowledge module provides process and acceptability requirements for wire and cable assembly marking, securing, shielding and finishing.

Module 7 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Coaxial Cables

The wire and cable process and acceptability requirements in this additional knowledge module include coaxial cables.

Module 8 – IPC/WHMA-A-620C Ultrasonic Welding and Solderless wrap

The wire and cable manufacturing process requirements and acceptability requirements for ultrasonic welding or solderless wrap connections are included in this additional knowledge module.
